Supplier Quality — Automotive & Industrial

Defect Sorting & ContainmentStop the Escape. Protect Your Customer.

When a defect gets out, the first hours decide whether it stays a quality problem or becomes a customer crisis. Exceleor plans, launches, and manages containment — isolating suspect material, sorting to approved criteria, and driving the root cause so containment ends on evidence, not hope.

When You Need Containment

If any of these are happening right now, containment should already be in motion.

A customer complaint, reject notice, or line stoppage at your customer
Suspect material in your plant, in transit, or at the customer
Controlled Shipping Level 1 (CS1) or Level 2 (CS2) notification
A launch or process change that needs a verified firewall
Incoming supplier material you cannot trust until it is verified
Recurring escapes that interim containment has not stopped

How Containment Works

A disciplined, documented sequence — the way a Lead Auditor expects to see it.

1. Rapid Response & Scope

Define the defect, the suspect date/lot range, and every location where suspect material may sit: WIP, finished goods, warehouse, in transit, and at the customer.

2. Sort Instruction & Defect Criteria

A written sort work instruction with accept/reject criteria, boundary samples, inspection method, and gauging, submitted for customer approval where required.

3. Sort, Inspect, Rework

100% visual, dimensional, or functional inspection of suspect material, with rework performed only under an approved rework instruction.

4. Certified Material & Clean Point

Certified-good parts are identified per customer requirements, and a clean point (break point) is established so everyone knows which shipments are verified.

5. Daily Reporting & Traceability

Daily results by part number and lot: quantity inspected, accepted, rejected, and reworked, with defect Pareto and full traceability for your customer.

6. Root Cause & Exit Criteria

Containment is interim, not a fix. We drive the 8D, verify permanent corrective action, and define measurable exit criteria so containment can be released.

Industries We Service

Focused on automotive and industrial suppliers, where escapes stop lines and trigger controlled shipping.

Automotive Suppliers

Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 suppliers operating under IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements, responding to controlled shipping, reject notices, and 8D demands.

IATF 16949 §8.7IATF 16949 §10.2CS1 / CS28D (D3 Containment)

Industrial Suppliers

Industrial equipment, fabrication, machining, castings, plastics, and electrical component suppliers under ISO 9001 or customer quality agreements.

ISO 9001 §8.7ISO 9001 §10.2Customer Quality AgreementsIncoming Inspection

What You Receive

  • Containment plan and suspect material scope
  • Sort work instruction with accept/reject criteria
  • Daily sort reports and defect Pareto
  • Certified-material identification and clean point record
  • Nonconforming material disposition records
  • 8D / corrective action support through verification
  • Documented exit criteria for releasing containment

Containment Your Auditor Will Accept

Sorting alone does not satisfy IATF 16949 or ISO 9001. Auditors look for control of nonconforming outputs, documented disposition, customer notification where required, and corrective action that prevents recurrence.

Because Exceleor's principal consultant is a Lead Auditor, containment records are built to stand up at your next surveillance audit and to your customer's supplier quality engineer.

Some OEMs require CS2 containment to be performed by a customer-approved third-party provider. We confirm your customer's specific requirements before the engagement starts.
